Thanks to a little help from our sump pump, we got some motivation to rebuild our basement this spring. One of the major updates included re-purposing some old kitchen cabinets as the base for a new bar. Building the bar was relatively easy. Deciding on the bar top, however, was a different story.

I’ve had a number of people ask about Whitsitt Wines, with questions ranging from “How do you make wine?” to “Is this some kind of business venture?”. And my personal favorite, “Can I buy some of your wine?”. So, with several hours of flight time on my hands I figured I’d spend a little time trying to explain what I'm up to.

I'm so proud of how Elana performed at her first TKD tournament, not because she took first place in both event (although that is of course awesome), but because how hard she worked. With a little encouragement from her mom :) she practiced her forms 10 times before school and 10 times after school for several weeks leading up to the big day. You can see how it paid off in the video below, because she completed the routine in about 30 seconds while the other girls took significantly longer. She didn't hesitate or have to stop and think about the moves at all.

I've enjoyed watching Oksana dance over the years, but I think that her performances are about to be taken to a whole new level. This weekend Oksana did a dance at the Iron Post and was accompanied on the violin by our friend Tania. The combination of live music and live dance really is something special. I've posted the video from the show below.
